Abrasives are divided into four main categories:

• Cutting & Grinding wheel : Resin bond and pressed abrasives
  
• Coated abrasives: backing, application of the binder and abrasive on a backing
  
• Incorporated abrasives: injection of abrasives in the backing, abrasive blasting on a backing
• Vitrified abrasives: abrasive binder and pressed abbrasives heated to a very high temperature

Grain

Compared to diamond, the hardness is the following:

• Diamond 100%
• SiC 99.5%
• White corundum 99 %
• Brown corundum 98%
• Amanil 65%
• Flint 60%

The hardness must be adapted to materials grinded or sanded materials, hard abrasive materials for soft and vice versa.

These grains are available in the following granulometry:
 16 - 24 - 36 - 40 - 50 - 60 - 80 - 100 - 120 - 150 - 180 - 220 - 240 - 280 - 320 - 360 - 400 - 500 - 600 - 800 - 1000 - 1200 and higher for high technology.

Binder

Resin: for abrasive and applied techniques.
Glue: for coated abrasives for use in hand.
